Invisible Bathroom Sink By Victor Vasilev

Milan-based architect Victor Vasilev designed KUB, a nearly invisible bathroom sink. The minimal design is available in two sizes and features a combination of marble and glass. When looking at the structure from the side, the sink seems to disappear into the room. The KUB basins belong to a series of objects, which all carry Vasilev’s signature clean style.







Victor Vasilev was born in 1974 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. At the age of 15 his family immigrated to Israel. He studied architecture at the Politecnico in Milan and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. At the end of his studies, he decided to stay in Milan and in 2004 started his own practice. Collaborations with companies like Boffi, Living Divani, MDF Italia and Antrax, have resulted in his winnig several international awards. His design ideas are inspired by the continuous search for formal and material purity. The Slovakia based design studio, Allt, has put a charming twist on the often not-so-glamorous modular carpet. Inspired by street pavement and the complexity of city grids –Cityscape is based on a hexagonal pattern which is formed through the repetition of a single tile shape. A full carpet is 2 square meters (just over 6.5 x 6.5 feet) and is composed of 40 individual tiles. While the grey 100% felt surface was chosen to emulate pavement, it has been translated to a more cozy material for your indoor navigation comfort. A tiled carpet which derives its isometric form from complex city views and uses a simple grey woolen felt as the material of choice. You can rearrange the tiles into various shapes and create symmetrical geometry as well as asymmetrical islands that bear resemblance to architectural building kit.

Learning To Read Tarot Cards

I have always been fascinated with Tarot cards, but it wasn’t until last year around the holidays that I finally got my hands on the beautiful deck we were selling by The Wild Unknown. Ever since, I have been trying to practice and learn the basics of Tarot readings.  It can seem overwhelming at first — there are so many different cards and meanings, and a variety of ways to read them.  Today I wanted to share some of the beginner’s tips that I have found most useful, and three common spreads to practice with.

Choose a deck that speaks to you.  There are a number of different Tarot card decks.  You will naturally be drawn to one, whether it is because of the imagery or some subconscious pull.  I was immediately drawn to the Wild Unknown deck and its gorgeous illustrations by artist Kim Krans.


Spend time with your deck. Get to know the cards, spend time studying them and getting to know their individual meanings.  Learn about the different suits, which vary depending on the deck.  My deck has Pentacles, Wands, Swords, and Cups.


Major vs. Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana speaks to the deeper and more spiritual aspects of life situations and the Minor Arcana speaks to smaller, day to day matters.  The Major Arcana includes the “trump cards” of the deck — the ones we are more familiar with hearing about like The Sun, The Moon, The Lovers, and The Fool.


Practice. Practice by starting your day with a daily reading.  Draw one card from the deck — choose the one you are drawn to.  Study the card, think about its meaning, and ask yourself questions about how it applies to you and your current situation.

Once you have familiarized yourself with the cards and their meanings, start experimenting with different spreads.  Here are three common spreads you can try!


The 3 card spread is a great starting point.  Ask yourself a question, and spend some time sitting with the deck, transferring your energy to the cards.  When you draw the cards, select the ones you are subconsciously drawn to.  If you draw a card upside down, keep it that way — this is referred to as a “reverse” card, and affects the reading.  The first card symbolizes the past, the center card the present, and the third card the future.  Look for a story or pattern in the cards you draw, and think about how they relate to each other —  trust your intuition.  This spread is great for daily readings, and a good way to get some quick insight into a certain situation.


The 7 card spread is similar to the 3 card spread but a bit more complex, with two cards in the past and future, and three in the present.  Once you have become more familiar with your cards and how to read them, this spread can help offer further insight into a situation, beyond what the 3 card spread offers.  The cards in the past speak to past past issues, the three in the center speak to present situations, and the two on the right speak to the future outcome.


The Celtic Cross Spread is an even more complex and in-depth reading.  This spread definitely takes practice and I am not there yet, but this diagram demonstrates the spread and each card’s meaning.  Here is a rundown of what each card means:

Self: This is you at your core, your being.

Opposing Forces: This represents something that is working against your true self, and challenging your being.

Background/Foundation: This card speaks to the origin of your question and why you asked it, which could relate to your background, your childhood, or an event that has shaped who you are.

Recent Past: This card represents recent events leading up to your current situation.

Near Future: This card represents events that are currently forming and about to occur.

Higher Power: This card can represent a person of extreme importance in your life, or an overseeing power of some sort — it can even represent you at your highest power.

Issues/Fears: This card symbolizes your fears or hesitancy about upcoming events, or the situation you are inquiring about.

Allies and Supporters: This speaks to your family, friends, and close acquaintances.  The card demonstrates how your current situation affects those around you, or how they affect your current situation.

Advice: This card offers you insight into how to act next, and how to proceed with your situation.

Outcome: The end result of your query, this card speaks to the long-term outcome.  You can affect this outcome by heeding the advice in the prior card, or taking a different approach to your issues or fears with the situation.

The Full Potential Challenge

Ever wonder what your life would be like if you lived up to your full potential? Would your body be healthier? Your skin clearer? Bank account bigger? I think about these things all the time, and, judging my a previous post, you guys do to. Below is a chart designed to help all of us live up to our full potential.I’ve broken it down into time frames to help keep you from getting overwhelmed. Write the chart down and hang it someplace where you can see it all the time. I will be starting this challenge tomorrow, 9/8. I’ll check in with you guys every Sunday to track my progress. I have specific goals in mind for myself, and you guys should make some too! I really want to know how you guys are doing. Tag your progress posts with #sbfpc so I can track it and take a look. Let’s get to it!


  • Stretch. First thing. Really give your body enough time to wake up. Touch your toes. Roll out your shoulders. Do not hit snooze!
  • Do your full skincare routine. I have mine detailed here, but do whatever works for you and your complexion. Be gentle and consistent.
  • Brush your teeth and floss. I used to be a big floss-skipper too, but you’d be amazed at how dig of a difference it makes. Rinse with a whitening mouthwash. I use one by Crest, and I notice a major difference in my teeth’s overall whiteness in just a few days.
  • Give yourself enough time to get ready. Whether you’re a wash-and-go kind of girl, or someone who spends an hour doing a full contouring routine before class (and either one is fine!), make sure you aren’t rushing. If you need to wake up a few minutes earlier than normal, so be it. Rushing sets an awful, stressed-out tone for the rest of the day. Allow yourself to be relaxed before taking on the day.
  • Eat something. I’m not going to say eat a big breakfast, because some people (myself included) just can’t eat in the morning. But you should eat, or at least bring a little something with you to work or school. If you can’t eat a full breakfast, grab a fruit! You won’t be as hungry come lunch time, making you less likely to gorge yourself.
  • Shower. You can do this at night, in the morning, whatever. Again, this is something you should allow some time for. I don’t wash my hair every day, but I do condition it every day (from the ears down). Scrub yourself with a delicious-smelling body wash. If you shave, make yourself as smooth as a dolphin, dude. If you don’t, then don’t and don’t ever ever ever let anyone make you feel bad or weird about it. When you get out of the shower, wrap yourself in a fluffy towel and totally slather your sexy self with lotion. Top to bottom. Do it as soon as you can post-shower so it can really sink in.
  • Put leave-in condition throughout your damp hair and comb it through.
  • Put on an outfit that makes you feel good! So important!
  • Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!!!!!
  • Take a look at your daily to-do list. Knock out the most pressing stuff first. Take pride when you cross things off your list.
  • Make your bed! Oh my god, make your bed. Do it. Do it. Do it.


  • Follow the “touch it once” approach. This is a truly life-changing thing. When a task is in front of you, no matter how big or small, just do it right then and there. How many times have you gotten a work email or homework assignment and thought, “Eh, I’ll do it later”? And then later never comes? Once something pops up, do it once. Squash it and be done. Cross things off your list and feel like a badass.
  • Try to go for a walk at lunch. Even one little lap around the block or campus will reenergize you like nobody’s business.
  • Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!!!!!
  • Be present. This is so hard for me too, but you have to make a major effort to be present in whatever you’re doing. Be engaged and plugged-in and just exist in the moment. Give 100 percent.
  • Be friendly to friends and strangers. A smile goes a long way.
  • Eat something. Eat what you packed for lunch (see below) and take a break from working while you do it. You need “you time”!


  • Take your makeup off as soon as you’re in for the night. Wash your face with your full routine and let your skin have a break.
  • Workout. You can also do this in the morning. Whatever works for you. Make a great playlist and go hard af. Get your cardio in. Get your strength training in. Earn every freaking sweat bead forming on your forehead. Earn your shower!
  • Knock out your homework. Life is infinitely better you don’t have anything hanging over your head. Half the time, the energy and emotion you spent dreading/putting off your work is ten times worse than the work itself.
  • Make a list of what needs to be done tomorrow. It’ll set you up for success the next day, and you won’t forget anything!
  • Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!!!!!
  • Lay out your clothes for tomorrow. This will save you SO MUCH TIME in the morning omg I can’t even tell you how important this is.
  • Eat something great. And once you’ve decided to be done eating for the night, be done. Brush your teeth so you can’t eat again.
  • After brushing, do a whitening treatment. Whether it’s classic baking soda, a Crest white strip, or a laser. Do something. And floss! Retainers in too, ladies 0:)
  • Relax! Take a few hours to do what YOU want to do. Scroll through Tumblr, binge on some Netflix, FaceTime gossip with your friends, anything. Do whatever makes you happiest.
  • Shut the electronics off an hour before you want to go to bed. Put your phone on sleep mode. If you stare at the screen, it will keep you awake and alert and you won’t be able to fall asleep. A good night’s sleep is crucial for weightless and general happiness lol
  • Do a quick sweep of your room and see if there’s anything you can put away real quick. A clean space is a happy space.
  • Crawl into your bed (aren’t you happy you took the time to make it?!) and read a book by lamplight for a while. When you start to feel sleepy, go to sleep. Don’t push it. You kicked ass today and you deserve rest.


  • Do something with your friends. It just has to be one thing. Even if you’re just hanging out at the coffee shop, spending time with your squad will make you a better, happier person.
  • Drink water. Drink water. Drink water. Drink water!!!!!
  • Do something just for you. Set your laptop up in the bathroom and watch a Netflix marathon while you take a bubble bath. Buy an old school bottle of Mr. Bubbles ($3 at Target!) and really just soak. Relax. Light a candle.
  • Do something creative. You can read a book, write, blog, draw, code, anything. It just has to be something that speaks to your passion.
  • Track your progress. Just do this once a week so it doesn’t become all-consuming. And remember that non-scale victories are just as important as shedding pounds.
  • Take the time to be grateful. Tell your friend how much you admire her taste in music. Mention to your mom how much you love her cooking and how happy you are that she takes care of you. Thank your teaching after an especially interesting lecture. When you do something awesome, take a moment to admire yourself. Be grateful for even the little things.

The American Radiator Building and the Bryant Park Hotel

Il Bryant Park Hotel316de55e3a6e008ae6ad167358744011 è uno degli edifici più belli di New York City. Non c’è assolutamente alcun dubbio su questo. Costruito nel 1924 per essere il fiore all’occhiello dell’ American Radiator Company, il gotico e nero edificio con influenze Art Deco, sorge al centro di Bryant Park, dedicato essenzialmente come sorta di soggiorno all’aperto a Midtown. L’architetto Raymond Hood, che ha studiato presso l’Ecole des Beaux – Arts di Parigi, ha progettato l’edificio. Il design di Hood combinato con un modernismo stripped-down con dettagli gotici, è stato uno dei primi grattacieli di Manhattan di tradizione classica Beaux-Arts e di un design più snello e moderno. La sua caratteristica più radicale sono mattoni che danno all’edificio la sua profonda con tonalità di bianco. I0bfe2b7cf14037d69495ee32ddc5fcdfl design è addolcito da terracotta dorata, ornamento che, mette in evidenza gli eleganti pinnacoli e parapetti dell’edificio. Le finiture nero e oro sono intese come rappresentazioni simboliche di carbone e il fuoco. Nel 1967 l’edificio fu venduto all’American Standard Company, e nel 1974 è stato aggiunto al registro nazionale dei luoghi storici. La struttura ha cambiato le mani, dif7d851df26882cbc2c24cbaa3d34e769 nuovo, nel 1988 per poi rimanere vuoto per pi
ù di un decennio, prima che finalmente la riapertura, nel 2001, come Bryant Park Hotel. La splendida ristrutturazione dal edificio, con 130 uffici e camere moderne, è stata completata dall’architetto britannico David Chipperfield. Chipperfield, che è stato il curatore della Biennale di Venezia del 2012, è forse più noto per i suoi lavori di ristrutturazione moderni pur nel rispetto di Neues Museum di Berlino e altri edifici circostanti su Museum Island. La ristrutturazione del Bryant Park Hotel rende omaggio al design innovativo di Hood. Il suo mattone nero, l’oro, ed il design di luci sono stati tutti accuratamente restaurati, mentre all’interno, gli uffici e le showroom sono state trasformate in alloggi di lusso. Come con l’originale design di Hood, materiali di alta qualità giocano un ruolo importante nella costruzione dell’identità della struttura. Indoor Garden Design

Regardless of where you live, I’m a firm believer you can take advantage of some of the many benefits vertical gardening offers.

The advantages of vertical gardens really come into their own in micro garden spaces where options are very limited but as most people live in urban areas, clever design ideas are a key to make the most of the space you have.5141ba3faa7c0af97f218355d39f5743

Vertical gardens help you:

  • Maximise Limited Space:  Increase growing space especially when it is at a premium in a very tiny area.
  • Create a Garden Room:  Some vertical structures like arbors, arches, pergolas and gazebos help create the ambience of an outdoor garden ‘room’ and can focus the eye on the mystery beyond.  They can also give a sense of height and depth to an otherwise small space.
  • Grow a Privacy Screen:  Screen or disguise unwanted views (like boxy air conditioners and unattractive garden structures like sheds or compost bays), nosy neighbours and create more privacy.
  • Increase Accessibility:  Plants are easier to reach – makes fertilising, watering, pruning and harvesting much more convenient and saves your back.
  • Nurture Healthier Plants:  Getting plants up and off the ground improves air circulation = healthier plants and less pest & disease problems.  It also minimises damage due to pets or wild animals digging up gardens on the ground.
  • Enhance Visual Appeal:  Improve the beauty of your garden and increase ‘curb appeal’ by adding character, variety, structure and colour. Create ‘eye candy’ by planting at eye level with vertical garden structures like hanging baskets and window boxes.
  • Grow More Plants:  Expand the number and kind of plants you can grow in your garden.  Some vegetables like pumpkins that grow on vines and take up a lot of personal space, can be trained to grow up and over a trellis in a very compact space.

  • Create a Micro Climate: A living natural shield can insulate a building (from heat, air pollution or noise) and help to regulate temperature by cooling and shading an area.  You can also create a micro climate by adding a vertical structure like a tepee, trellis, pergola, arbor, arch or A-frame that will provide shade below.  The cooler spot under the support will suit shade-loving plants and sun worshippers will thrive climbing up and over so you get the best of both worlds.

Matthew Simmonds sculptures

Quando sentiamo parlare di sculture in marmo , si tende a pensare alle forme umane appartenenti ad esempi senza tempo provenienti da Grecia, Italia e altrove . Una forma non è necessariamente un solido, come sottolinea lo scultore Matthew Simmonds attraverso il suo lavoro , che consiste in sculture, non di pieni e definiti corpi umani , ma di architetture d’interni vuoti .
Simmonds, originario dalla Gran Bretagna, ha studiato storia dell’arte prima di dedicarsi alla illustrazione e poi scultura in pietra; come scalpellino ha lavorato al restauro di alcuni più importanti monumenti nazionali inglesi, tra cui l’Abbazia di Westminster e le cattedrali di Salisbury e Ely. Quindi non è una sorpresa che il suo lavoro è ispirato principalmente da edifici sacri, come le basiliche barocche e templi romani antichi. Dopo aver affinato le sue abilità in scultura classica a Pietrasanta, Italia, Simmonds ha ottenuto il riconoscimento internazionale come scultore, esibendo il suo lavoro a livello internazionale, mentre le sue sculture sono ora parte di collezioni private di primo piano in tutto il mondo .

In architettura generale, in particolare gli interni elaborati e monumentali di edifici religiosi, i materiali (una pietra diventa un fiore, una mano, un uccello) si trasformano e sembrano sfidare le leggi della fisica, sorretti dai colonnati e cupole maestose. Nella scultura di Simmonds tuttavia, questo principio è invertito: Natura vince l’architettura, come se si racchiude o la avvolge: gli interni incontaminati ed elaborati sono come fossili di edifici, intrappolati dentro la roccia in cui sono stati intagliati, diminuendo in tal modo il loro carattere altrimenti grande e umiliante. Creare un gioco di spazi architettonici su piccola scala, la solida pietra in cui sono scolpite le sculture si apre per rivelare mondi interni intricati in cui il punto di vista cambia e la luce gioca un ruolo importante nella definizione delle sculture.

Chrysler Building

Il Chrysler Building è uno dei simboli più celebri di New York City. Un capolavoro di architettura Art Decò, una piramide d’acciaio che riflette la luce del sole con le sue finestre triangolari e gli archi metallici. Completato nel 1930, è alto 319 metri e si trova nell’East Side di Manhattan in prossimità dell’incrocio tra la 42ª strada e Lexington Avenue. Venne costruito per ospitare la sede della società automobilistica Chrysler e fu il grattacielo più alto del mondo per poco più di un anno, tra il 1929 e il 1931, quando venne superato dall’Empire State Building. L’intero edificio fu costruito in soli venti mesi. Ma l’elemento più riconoscibile e celebre dell’edificio è la straordinaria guglia ad archi reiterati con finestre triangolari, che ospita una suite dedicata fino al 1979 all’esclusivo “Cloud Club”. Al 71° piano era il celebre “Osservatorio” – uno spazio di circa 400 mq. con soffitti alti 6 metri dove erano custoditi i primi “ferri del mestiere dell’operaio” W. Chrysler.
